Can Americans face the truth about race?

Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, the first black woman to serve as the United States’ top diplomat, calls slavery America’s “original sin.” After the shocking murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota by four police officers in broad daylight, Americans are pessimistic that race relations will ever improve. But conservative civil rights advocate Peter Kirsanow firmly believes that when it comes to race in America, “We’ve never lived in better times.”

"America, you better get this: What they're saying is there is going to be no peace until there is justice.”  
Saturday afternoon, at the private memorial service for George Floyd held in Raeford, North Carolina — a few miles from Fayetteville, the small southern town where Floyd was born — Sheriff Hubert Peterkin stood before the Floyd family and global media to deliver this stinging ultimatum. Outside, 15,000 mourners lined the streets under the sweltering sun to pay their respects as Floyd’s open casket made its way inside the Baptist church.
