Duterte – Donald Trump on Steroids

The President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, is loathed by Human Rights Watch, the UN, the US and Europe. But at home his approval ratings rose by 4% to 91% in October. Today Duterte is arguably the most popular president in the whole world. The West will never understand why, because the West judges him by Western standards.

Wearing a black polo shirt, jeans, and Chelsea boots, the vigilante roamed the city on his Harley Davidson looking for criminals. Legend has it has that sometimes they were arrested and sometimes shot. On one occasion the vigilante saw a man illegally smoking outside in a café. The vigilante sat next to him and pushed a snub nose Colt .38 into his testicles; ‘I’ll give you these choices: I’ll shoot your balls, send you to jail, or you eat your cigarette butt.’ No prizes for guessing which option was chosen. The vigilante in question was Rodrigo Duterte, then Mayor of the city of Mindanao, and since 2016 the President of the Philippines.
